I was looking for a way to get a good view of the Brandywine River Museum from across the Brandywine. I parked my truck behind the garage and was immediately struck by the colors and shape of the building. I happened to get there when the sun was shining on the left side of the building and large shadow shapes were cast across the road. I set up and started painting.
A number of people came along while I was painting the building. The current Mr. Taylor came out and told me a story about Andrew Wyeth painting the building and asking his father to rearrange tires piled up outside to get a better shape.
The day start out great but it got a bit cold and windy before I finished. I may paint it again because it is a terrific composition and I think I can do a better job of capturing the shape of the building. This one doesn’t capture the height as well as I would like it to.
