I took a walk early one morning while visiting my oldest son and his family in Fort Morgan Colorado. The South Platte River ran just behind the High School where he taught. The landscape was beautiful and totally different from what I was accustomed to in Chester County, PA. I happened to hit a morning with an awesome sky and flocks of birds flying around. I took a lot of pictures. I painted this picture in 2018 in my studio from the photographs. I loved the sky, the birds and the diagonal lines of the river banks pointing to a bend in the river. It was great fun to do a landscape without mixing any greens for a change. Platte River Morning was accepted in the 2018 Philadelphia Water Society International Exhibit.
Everything about this is beautiful. I remember seeing it at PWCS 118th International Works on Paper exhibit in Wayne.
